Mayo Gathering at NND Garden (September, 2026)
GATHERING

Mayo Gathering

On September 12, 2026, The Yukon Food Security Network and Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation held a showcase for the Mayo Food System Indicators Project on the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun.

This gathering brought the community together to celebrate a year of meaningful conversations about how to measure the health of Mayo's food system. Mussi Cho to all of our partners, supporters, and friends!

We kicked off the morning at the last Steward Valley Community Farmers Market of the season. In the afternoon, we gathered at NND Garden to share the Mayo Food System Indicators Project report. The evening consisted of an open house style learning about the project findings, some remarks from the project team, and a tour of the garden grounds. Thank you to Félix Plouffe, Lead Gardener, for showing us around the garden and to Kayla Hunt for putting together delicious bites featuring ingredients grown right there. To cap the evening off, we enjoyed some music, stories, and laughs around the fire.

We're grateful to our Ihdzi' team - Catherine Littlefield, Nicole Hutton, and Syd Anderson - for being so generous with the time, care, and insights that were poured into this project and this event. To the community of Mayo, thank you for trusting us with your stories. We're grateful for the relationships we've build over the course of this project, and the opportunity to celebrate all of our work together in the fall sunshine, around the fire, with plenty of good food!
